Black metal

View from our bedroom. What I'll be looking at on a Saturday morning while Taryn gets my breakfast. I think...
OK, It's the architect doing this one. Seems the client has managed to find some fee so I'm back on the tools! So, some black roofing / cladding and 1 door. To keep the client happy I should explain what's going on but I think it's fairly obvious. Areas are becoming rooms now, just. Things will happen quite quickly now (all fingers crossed). Windows and doors due for delivery any day. Rest of roofing ready to be fixed after late flashings turn up and are installed. Keep watching and I'll publish the date of the ROOF SHOUT!

Sample City

This is what our living room floor currently looks like.  Not only is the time approaching, but the GST rate goes up on 1 October.  Nothing like a bit of motivation!

Regan went down to site tonight to check on the roof, and not only is it there, but it is also half on!  The bedroom wing is pretty much done, including down the walls.  Wow!

The Eagle has Landed

I repeat:  The Eagle has landed!  Roofing is now on site.  The builder has not confirmed, but the roofer swears it is there.  Woohoo!  Now we just need it to stop raining...  We really wanted to go down to site tonight to check it out, but managed to realise that our ability to judge the exact shade of black of the roof at night was most probably limited.

In my head, the roof is all in one piece and just gets lifted on with a crane as one piece (particularly as ours also wraps down the walls).  But apparently this is incorrect.

As you can see, (a) we have found our camera; (b) the butynol is finished;  and (c) the builder has been using his time to do some more roof prep stuff.  There is now some wiring that resembles extra-large chicken wire over the roof.  I think that the insulation goes under the "chicken wire" and the ceiling goes under that.  And of course the roof goes on top.

The plumbers (who are also the roofing guys) have also been on site doing plumbing stuff.  I'm not entirely sure what they were doing, but there are now some pipes on the ceiling in Bedroom 3, and plenty of wood shavings on the floor.
And we've got to finish up with a photo of The Door.  This is the door from the lounge/library area to the exterior.  The Architect is checking it and considering whether it meets his specifications (possibly not).  You can actually see the door in the 3D picture at the top of the blog - it's the one directly to the left of the random narrow window at around floor level.  It would be far more impressive as a door if there was glass in it so that we couldn't still just walk through it!

Now we just need to hope that it stops raining tomorrow so that the damn roof can go ON!

First door on site

Our first door has finally arrived on site.  It's the door that will go off the library, and is 3 metres tall!  When I say "door", I really just mean the metal framing as the glazing will be fitted on site.  This is the door that is required to be fitted before the roof can be finished.

Perhaps that will allow us to look at the silver lining, as the roof STILL isn't here!  First they under-scheduled the production by 50 lineal metres (just the production, not the pricing, thank goodness).  Delay #1.  And then on Friday, delay #2:  Apparently the roofing managed to go through some machine without anyone noticing, and the corrugations are not straight.  Accordingly it will not be arriving "early this week".  Also, it has to come down from Palmerston North on a truck.

The camera also appears to be AWOL, so there are no photos.  The butynol on the gutter is at least complete.
